HI Wombat Staff
We would just like to say thank you for being open when we were hungry. We were staying at Mansfield and there was nothing worth eating so we decided to go for a drive. Someone mentioned we should go to Hurstbridge and try The Wild Wombat. It was just great. The Beef Wellington my wife had was wonderful, she did not know what to expect because she has never had Beef Wellington, the Pesto Chicken was excellent as was the parma and Thai Beef salad. Thoroughly enjoyed our night and we will tell our friends when the visit Australia.

I came down with family and friends for the Wattle Festival and throughout the day we sampled coffee from various cafes around town including some carts that were on the street although not sure why some of them had carts as the coffee was terrible. Anyway, we left your coffee tasting till last and I have to say that was some bloody great coffee. We even had seconds. The best coffee I may have ever had. Thank you for our coffee fix. We will definately be back.

After visiting for the first time a couple of months back and ordering the big breakfast i couldn't stop talking about it and as soon as i could i was back down to order it again and since then ive been back heaps of times ordering a range of things and have had no complaints i have recomended the wild wombat to all my friends and family hope you guys keep running your business in hurstbridge for many years to come!

Great food, great venue and the place to be seen at. Forget Southbank, I now know that good service can be had at Wild Wombat. The male waiter obviously has worked at fine dining establishments in the past. Good to see that he has implemented some of the past without overdoing it. As a waitress I know that this type of customer service is rare or non existent at most restaurants and this is what makes eating out a joy.

After driving past your cafe the last eight months we decided to visit you to see what all the fuss is about. WOW, were we surprised. You are not a cafe as we thought but a fully catered restaurant serving fine dining for dinner. The pesto chicken and beef wellington were fantastic and we were shocked as soon as we were presented with the menu as it was not what we expected from a so called cafe. Deceived we were but once we were there it was fantastic. The cafe may be small but it is cosy and the menu can rival the bigger establishmens around Southbank and Docklands that we usually frequent. I think we just found our new dining hot spot. Thank you to you all for a fantastic night.

I just wanted to mention by email that I came in on the weekend for the first time since you opened 7 months ago and found that you have fantastic meals and that you are actually cheaper than the guys down the road for similar type of food. Good on you for bringing in extra people to Hurstbridge and offering an alternative.

Hello.....I was there on Sunday and it was very busy and I just wanted to mention that although we had to wait a while, the food was fabulous. The waitress apologised a couple of times but I just wanted to assure you that it was worth the wait once we received our food. Thank you very much and see you again.

What a discovery while taking a drive out to Kinglake. We normally drive out to Kinglake on a regular basis and find it frustrating at times when no one is open on the way back. Thanks for being there when we need you for a quick bite or coffee, the cakes and coffee were excellent.

A few months ago we went out as a group of 4 to Wild Wombat for dinner and really enjoyed it. Went there for lunch with my husband and his parents and it was just fantastic again. My mother inlaw had caesar salad with salmon and they made it gluten FREE which I find most places refuse to do. The calamari salad was excellent as was the bruschetta. My inlaws are also big coffee fans so I was a bit worried when they said it better be good. Well guess what, they loved the coffee so much they had seconds and made a comment to the effect of "This coffee is the best I have ever had." We also had two small kids under 3 years of age and the staff were very accomodating to my needs and offered pencils and kids menu. Once again a pleasant experience and I will be back.

Wombats aren't exactly the wildest of marsupials but, like the adorable creatures, the Wild Wombat Cafe & Bar is full of charm, burrowed in the gorgeous rural surrounds of Hurstbridge. Around 45 minutes drive from Melbourne, this funky cafe has a laidback and friendly feel, with ample room to spread out on the cosy couches inside, or under an umbrella on the sunny deck. For those in need of a refuel before a big day out, the Wild Wombat Big Breakfast does well to fill up empty tummies with poached or fried eggs, bacon, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, spinach, sausage, hash browns and toast. Providing homemade meals throughout the day, Wild Wombat's mod-Oz menu also features gourmet delights such as pesto and prosciutto chicken, char-grilled vegetable stack, and gourmet spinach crepes.

Funky cafe on the edge of Hurstbridge. Great food, great managers and a warm and welcome feel. Came down with friends and we had nachos, whiskey truffles, coffees and hot chocolates and it was fast service, good value and very hospitable as well as being very tasty. We stayed and chatted as you just feel comfortable staying on and enjoying all that it has to offer. Has become our favourite cafe...so we will definitely be back.

When you see a name like Wild Wombat, you're not quite sure what to expect. So I was pleasantly surprised with my discovery. The Wild Wombat Cafe has a contemporary style, chic, modern, yet with a warm hospitable feel. The coffee is perfect (for a coffee lover like myself) and the selection of meals is good. On this particular day I had a chocolate custard type slice. Highly recommended and matches that cup of coffee perfectly. Although I dare say you couldn't go past a choc chip cookie. Very nice cafe in a good location. Well worth the drive to get there as the staff are great and very welcoming and the food is good sized and very tasty. Yummy paninis grilled to perfection and I was very surprised by the choice of food on offer. Small, but very homely. Perfect for kicking back and relaxing.

Everything about the Wild Wombat Cafe was a surprise. From finding out that it has only been opened for a week....to the wide variety on the menu catering for young and old alike....to the contemporary yet relaxed atmosphere. It is a place where you can sit, relax, catch up with friends whilst enjoying a quick snack, a delicious homemade cake and a good cup of coffee. Good service, friendly environment and a hidden Melbourne treasure. Very impressed.

It's hard to believe this cafe has only been open for a week as it gives the air that it has been there for a lot longer. For someone like myself that is somewhat of a cafe bunny...not only does the Wild Wombat offer great coffee.....but it also offers a warm and inviting environment and great service. The menu is light, fresh and healthy with a good variety for one and all. But for those that like a little indulgence with their cup of coffee.....nothing beats the selection of fine, homemade cakes. One of Melbourne's hidden treasures!!

The moment you walk into this cafe you realise that it is anything but 'wild'. The Manager greets you at the door, which is a VERY rare thing in this modern, busy world and the initial ambience is warm and welcoming. Having had both hot chocolates and coffees in various cafes around the world, I have to say that The Wild Wombat's are superb....even to the point of being one of the best. So too are their offerings of cakes and biscuits....all homemade and all delicious. The Chocolate Custard Slice and Brownies especially so. Muffins are made on-site which is also rare....and along with the cakes are a good end to one of the light meals on the cafes menu. And....it's fully licensed....but not for the rowdy crowd.....more for the laid back, enjoy your drink with a meal or after work wind down crowd. The Wild Wombat and it's friendly managers really are a treat and a very welcome addition to Hurstbridge. Welcome team!!

Came in for dinner as a group of 4 and we really enjoyed our dinner. It was quite a surprise as we have heard alot about Wild Wombat but never gone so we decided to try it out. The pesto chicken and beef wellington were excellent as were our starters of buschetta and crumbed mushrooms. The wine list and beer list was also very surprising as we did not expect an extensive list.
Apparently this cafe has only just opened a couple of days ago, but WOW.....the coffee is one of the best I have had in a very long time. The cakes are homemade and taste better than the bulk orders of cakes other cafes have. We also had sandwiches which were also great. Fantastic place, great atmosphere and looks like the place to be in the summer as it has its own balcony.
